Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans2014
Digital
23" x 43"
"Sunrise" has long been one of my favorite films -- as well as a giant of the silent film era. I wanted to give it the "epic" poster it never had. It was also an experiment in dealing with a new digital form of image manipulation, as I tried to give it a silkscreen / woodcut effect, using a palette of only nine colors for a nostalgic feel. | Sunrise: A Song of Two HumansDetail
So honored to have my poster on display for the Oscar's 90th anniversary screening of F.W. Murnau's SUNRISE (1927) at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre, Monday, March 26th, 2018, and presented by the AMPAS. | Gateway to NIMH2001
Acrylics & colored pencil on paper.
18" x 24"
This art remains one of my personal favorites, and I gave a print to animators Don Bluth and Gary Goldman.
It's been featured within The Hollywood Reporter (accompanying an article about the NIMH remake), and, more recently, Intrada's 2015 remastered edition of Jerry Goldsmith's score.
While at Disney I rendered this into a 3D comp in After Effects. Go to my ANIMATION page to see it. |
